Telefónica launches Sim-only MVNO for Irish youth market

Telefónica Digital has launched the first new Sim-only network for young people in Ireland, offering unlimited calls and texts to any network for €10 per month.

The MVNO, 48, is being targeted at 18-22 year olds. A television ad campaign with the strapline Go Conquer launches today (2 February). The business joins the likes of giff gaff, Terra and Tuenti. The model will not be replicated in the United Kingdom, with a Telefónica spokesperson saying its giffgaff MVNO was 'doing really well'.

A 48 spokesperson said: 'We operate as an online-only network, we’ve kept things simple and costs down, that’s why the deal rocks. 48 is a straightforward, prepay plan.'Things happen when you turn 18 and the brand line ‘Go Conquer’ refers to the 48 months until your 22nd birthday when things get a little crazy. Unlimited calls and texts to any network make it easier for young people to chat, connect and have a laugh during this interesting time.'
