MWC 2012: Samsung to provide in-car services for new Toyotas

Samsung has teamed up with Toyota to provide in-car services like handsfree calls, voice interaction and text to speech.

The Samsung Car Mode Application will feature in Toyota cars from the second quarter of this year. The app connects with Toyota's In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system.

Samsung said the app will feature voice command technology, navigation and location-based services, as well as multimedia capabilities. The manufacturer is working with the car maker to develop further functions.

Samsung UK & Ireland telecommunications and networks division MD Simon Stanford said: 'With a passion for innovation and a commitment to drive the advancement of the mobile and vehicle industry, Samsung looks forward to the shared success of this collaboration. Together, Samsung and Toyota are opening the door to the smarter car era.'
