Sony ‘more effective’ after Ericsson break-up
Sony is ready to attack the market after claiming it has more ‘flexibility and freedom’ to develop new products following the break-up of its partnership with Ericsson.
After the launch of its two new Android phones, the Xperia P and the Xperia U at Mobile World Congress, Sony Mobile product marketing manager Stephen Sneeden said there were already more devices in the pipeline: ‘We can now move more quickly as we have a greater flexibility and freedom in terms of the development and launch of products. And, yes, we do have an idea for a tablet.
‘We valued our partnership with Ericsson, but this was the right time to move in a new direction. We’ll be more effective in attacking the market.
‘The two Android phones we have launched reflect the convergence of our devices with the Sony Entertainment Network, which includes PS Vita and the PlayStation 3.’
