Data security expert BlackBelt Smartphone Defence has inked a deal with recycling company Fonebank to provide a data wiping service for customers recycling their smartphones.
This is BlackBelt's second major deal this month. Last week the company announced a data wipe partnership with Mazuma Mobile. Both companies are major players in the smartphone recycling market, taking a combined share of well over half the UK recycling market.
Under the deal Fonebank, which is owned by Mobile Phone Recycler, will roll out BlackBelt DataWipe, a secure datawipe solution, at its UK recycling business, with plans to eventally provide the service at its eight international recycling centres.
Olly Tagg, director for CMR said: ‘As a leading recycler we want to provide the most effective data clear down solution possible for our business partners. We reviewed the market and concluded that BlackBelt DataWipe was the best product available to meet our client’s needs.’
Mat Lambert, BlackBelt DataWipe project manager said: ‘We are really pleased to add another prestigious organisation to our rapidly growing International client base as it shows that our product meets market requirements for reliable and secure data removal, and that BlackBelt is fast emerging as the standard solution for leading recyclers.
‘Aside from providing a secure and auditable data clear down solution, with more than 80 million unused handsets in the UK alone, DataWipe also represents a compelling business enablement tool for IT recyclers and others.’
