Nokia readying tablet device for Q4
Nokia is working on its own tablet device, with reports suggesting it could come to market by the end of this year.
In a interview with Finnish magazine Kauppalehti Optio, the manufacturer's design chief Marko Ahtisaari said he is devoting a third of its time to working on the device. He added that he was confident it would outclass its Android rivals and the iPad.
The device will reportedly be a 10-inch, ARM-based tablet. A fourth quarter release has been mooted. However, Ahtisaari did not say whether it would run on the Windows 8 platform, as previous reports suggested.
Nokia CEO Stephen Elop [pictured] has previously expressed an interest in the manufacturer entering the tablet space but Ahtisaari is the first executive to publicly confirm a device is in the works.
