HTCSense backup services to shut down

HTC is to temporarily shut down HTCSense.com and will delete any data stored on the backup service by 30 April.

The manufacturer said the move is part of a ‘renovation’ of the service.

The site’s users will need to log in and download a zip file of all their data before 30 April, at which point all files will be inaccessible and, soon after, deleted.

HTC said: ‘Until the new services are ready, features previously available on HTCSense.com will be shutting down.’

Some users are protesting that HTC should port their data across. The move comes as HTC prepares to launch its One series of smartphones, announced at MWC 2012.

The One series come with two years’ access to Dropbox, which offers 25GB of free storage.
