Orange takes top Alcatel phone
Orange have signed up Alcatel's E801 as a low-cost prepay musicphone. Alcatel hopes the handset will help it broaden its customer base.
The E801 will be available in Orange stores from 1 October for £49.95. Another UK network has also taken on the phone, although the manufacturer's European chief Julien Fouriot would not confirm which one. 'It [the E801] will be widely distributed,' Fouriot said.
The E801 comes with an MP3 player and a MicroSD memory card slot. It is one of the most highly-specced handsets in its price bracket.
Alcatel has already launched six handsets in the UK this year and will release another five by the end of the year including two camera phones named the C630 and C635.
