Samsung hits five million mark with Galaxy Note sales
Samsung has sold five million Galaxy Notes since the device launched in October.
The Galaxy Note is a larger sized smartphone, dubbed the 'phablet', which comes with a stylus and 5.3-inch Super AMOLED screen. In a posting on the manufacturer's Korean website, Samsung said: 'Thanks to the fast selling Galaxy Note, Samsung Electronics has gained about two-thirds of the South Korean mobile phone market share, making Samsung the leading mobile phone provider in Korea in addition to China, France, Spain and others.'
Meanwhile, Galaxy S II owners who are on O2's network have been able to upgrade the device's firmware to Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Earlier this month Samsung said it would begin rolling out the upgrade to Galaxy S II owners in the UK but availability depends on the operator's own software approval process.
