Orange signs Euro 2012 handset deal with Sony

Orange has signed its first pan-European sponsorship deal with Sony Mobile Communications for this summer's Euro 2012 tournament.

The partnerships will see online competitions, in-store promotions and live events held across 11 countries in Europe. Orange will run competitions for consumers to win vouchers for smartphones and receive special tariffs, merchandise and prizes with every Xperia device purchased in store.

Among the other competitions is the Orange Supporters Cup, where fans can compete individually and in teams for the chance to win VIP bus trips to the football tournament's matches in Warsaw and Kiev and Xperia S devices.

Pieter Pierle, VP and director for the Orange global account said: 'This partnership with Orange allows us to benefit from the combination of two powerful brands and gives us an opportunity to introduce our Xperia smartphones to Orange’s broad customer base, extending our reach to even more consumers.

'Euro 2012 is going to be a major event this summer and we will enhance the experience and enjoyment of both Orange and Sony Mobile customers by giving them the opportunity to get their hands on Xperia smartphones. 'Orange is one of the sponsors of Euro 2012 with its Xperia smartphone customers receiving the official tournament app automatically.
