BlackBerry employee stabbed at manufacturer's party dies

The BlackBerry employee who was stabbed during a Research in Motion event last week in London has died, the manufacturer has confirmed.

Phillip Sherriff was fatally wounded at Pulse nightclub in central London last Tuesday (3 April) following a concert by Jessie J. He remained in a critical condition for almost a week but passed away on Sunday (8 April).

Mr Sherriff's wife Jane, 34, told The Press Association: 'Phil was the most genuine, likeable and generous man you could ever hope to meet.

'He was a perfect husband, son, and father to our daughter aged eight and son aged five. His death is completely and utterly devastating.'

A BlackBerry spokesperson said: 'We are deeply saddened to hear our colleague has died as a result of the attack on Tuesday 3 April. Our thoughts are with his family and those close to him and we ask for the respect of their privacy at this difficult time.'

Police have charged 25-year-old company director Ashley Charles over the attack on the father of two.
