LG 'readying rival to Galaxy S III'

LG is readying a rival to the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S III, with a new handset reportedly set for a May launch.

The LG D1L is believed to have a 4.7-inch screen with a 720p display and runs on a 1.5GHz processor, according to a report in Korea's Digital Daily.

If the device does hit the market this year, it will join an increasingly congested LG product portfolio. The company unveiled three phones in the L-Style series at Mobile World Congress, as well as its first quad-core smartphone, the LG Optimus 4X HD.

A spokesperson for LG declined to comment on the report.
