Unified comms provider Communicate Better has clinched a £100,000 deal to supply, support and maintain a vehicle management system for North Warwickshire Borough Council.
The deal aims to save the council over £200,000, by cutting its service and maintenance costs, extending the working life of the council’s fleet and introducing more efficient working practices.
The dealer will roll out TomTom devices and the TomTom ecoPLUS system to the council’s entire fleet. The ecoPLUS system feeds data directly from fleet vehicles’ engines to drivers and managers, giving them a real-time view of the fuel efficiency of every fleet vehicle, showing where and when fuel was wasted and enabling vehicles to be accurately benchmarked.
Communicate Better director Mark Dermody said: ‘The council needed controlling mechanisms to regulate and influence the sustainable use of fuel and the amount of miles driven. It was clear that many drivers, however unwittingly, were wasting valuable resources because of the way they drive. Reducing average speed and instances of harsh braking and cornering delivers direct, measurable reductions in fuel consumption, servicing and maintenance costs and is proven to reduce accidents.’
