O2 launches new offer for holidaying customers
O2 has launched a new service for its customers travelling abroad, with calls charged at a one-off rate of 50p and minutes taken from their existing tariff.
O2 Travel is available from July and offers 25MB of data per day for £1.99. The operator said it was the best international offer it had offered to date. It said recent research revealed mobile internet use while abroad was growing at more than 100% per year, and 60% of customers who use mobile internet in the UK also use it while overseas.
The service will also be available to prepay customers, except those with BlackBerry devices, who will be charged at international rates from 29p per minute to make a call and from 8p per minute to receive a call.
O2 marketing and consumer director Sally Cowdry said: 'We know people want to able to relax and enjoy their holidays without worrying about complicated phone charges. With simple charges and a generous 25MB data bundle, O2 Travel provides a great way for our customers to keep in touch and share their holiday moments with family and friends without having to worry about the costs.'
