The full shortlists have been revealed for next month’s Mobile Industry Awards, which will celebrate excellence across the entire trade.
The showpiece event will take place on 14 June at The Brewery in London. The leaders and innovators in the industry will be celebrated across 14 categories, from Best Mobile Broadband and Best Dealer to Best Network and the coveted Person of the Year Award.
This year, HTC and Samsung have received five nominations, with both companies hoping to replicate their successes at last year’s ceremony. In 2011, Samsung clinched the Hottest New Phone prize for the Galaxy S II, while HTC picked up the Best Manufacturer and Phone of the Year awards.
This year they will go head to head in the Best Manufacturer and Field Marketing Team categories. In the Phone of the Year category, Samsung’s Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note and HTC’s Sensation XE will do battle against the other shortlisted handsets.
HTC’s well-received One Series has proved popular in the Hottest New Phone category, with the One X and One S both bagging nominations. Samsung has also been shortlisted for the Hottest Tablet Device for its Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Meanwhile, in another year of retail innovation, Carphone Warehouse, O2, Phones 4u, Three and Vodafone will slug it out for the Best High Street Retailer award. O2, Orange, Three, T-Mobile and Vodafone are in the running for the hotly contested Best Network prize.
