Barclays has added a new service to its Pingit mobile payments app, allowing corporate clients to receive payments from customers.
Businesses can register for a unique corporate ID or Quick Response (QR) code that is linked to its Barclays corporate current account. They can then include the code with statements and invoices, allowing customers to use the Pingit app to make a payment.
John Kelting, head of product at Barclays Corporate Banking, said: 'Customers increasingly want accessibility and ease when it comes to managing their money and Barclays Pingit provides just that. It gives customers a clean, straightforward and safe way to pay their bills by simply using their mobile phone.
'With the payments landscape rapidly evolving and expectation of immediacy of payment amongst consumers growing, the need for businesses to look for new and innovate ways to meet consumer demand and streamline payment processes will become increasingly important.'
Barclays launched the Pingit app in February, which allows current account customers from any bank to transfer cash using a mobile phone.
