O2 brings free Wi-Fi to Debenhams

Debenhams is the latest company to bring O2 WiFi to its customers after signing a deal with the operator.

All 167 stores will carry the service, which Debenhams said will herald the end of online versus instore purchasing. Customers, regardless of network, will be able to use the service after they register. Among the features for Debenhams customers is the ability to check for sizes and availability instore and arrange for a garment to be home delivered if unavailable.

O2 had ran a trial in three Debenhams stores across the UK. O2 WiFI MD Gavin Franks said: 'O2 WiFi has announced partnerships with leading brands in 2012. We are delighted to add Debenhams to our growing portfolio. Debenhams have realised the power of using instore connectivity as a basis to bring innovative services to customers. We’re delighted that we are consistently being chosen as a partner by premium brands such as Debenhams. This marks a continuation of our fresh thinking that has seen the rapid growth of O2 WiFi.'

Debenhams director Simon Forster said: 'We’re seeing the shape of shopping in the future emerging right before our eyes. With over one million customers already with our app on their phones, free Wi-Fi in stores has the potential to transform how people shop.'
