Samsung Galaxy S III sales to hit 10 million by July
Samsung is predicting global sales of its Samsung Galaxy S III smartphone will hit 10 million by July with demand outstripping initial supply in some areas.
Shin Jong-kyun, head of Samsung’s mobile division, is forecasting domestic monthly sales of the Galaxy S III to top one million units and overseas sales of more than 10 million.
He added: ‘Our production has fallen short of demand so far but supply conditions will improve around next week.’
Sales of the Galaxy S III are expected to outstrip those of its predecessors, the Galaxy S and the Galaxy S II, which sold more than 50 million units globally over the past two years.
‘We are getting far better feedback on the model overseas than what we experienced with the Galaxy S I and II,’ said Shin.
The Galaxy S III went on sale in 28 countries in Europe at the end of May. The manufacturer plans to introduce the product into 147 countries through 302 operators by July.
