Samsung fails to overturn Galaxy Tab ban in US

Samsung has failed to overturn a ban on the sale of its flagship Tab 10.1 in the US in the latest skirmish in its ongoing patent war with Apple.

A Samsung spokesperson told The Guardian it would continue to appeal against the injunction. The ban came into force last week, as a court mulls over whether Samsung illegally copied the design of Apple's iPad. The ban will be in place until 30 July, when Samsung and Apple will face each other in court. The Korean manufacturer has also been hit with a US sales ban for its Galaxy Nexus smartphone.

A Samsung statement said: 'Samsung is disappointed with the court's decision that denied our motion to stay. We believe today's ruling will ultimately reduce the availability of superior technological features to consumers in the US.

'Regardless, we will continue to pursue a request for an appeal of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 preliminary injunction, which we filed on 26 June to the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.'
