O2 has appointed the former MD of TalkTalk Business as the head of its small business division.
Paul Lawton joins with immediate effect and he will have full responsibility for the small business team, including sales, marketing, partner channels and customer experience. He will report to Ben Dowd, business director at O2. Lawton replaces Simon Devonshire, who is director of Telefónica's Wayra Academies across Europe.
Dowd said: 'Paul has impressive and relevant experience that makes him the ideal choice to lead our small business offering here at O2 and he brings a great insight and experience to this space. We have huge ambitions for our small business sector; we want to bring the right services to market through propositions like 'All In' and the industrialisation of O2 Unify for businesses ready to take next ICT step.'
Lawton said: 'O2 has made great strides in the business space and I am joining a team of people who have a wealth of knowledge in the space. They truly know their audience and understand the way mobile technologies can make a real difference to the way a small business run their businesses. We are evolving the business to include broadband and fixed and this evolution will continue.
'However, what is critical in this space is to ensure that any technology is easy to understand, can be purchased and supported in the right way and most importantly brings real benefit to a business community which is often time poor. This is the challenge and I am truly looking forward to stepping up to it.'
Lawton was MD at TalkTalk Business for over five years, completing eight acquisitions and developing its direct and partner sales channels. He was formerly director of mobile and marketing at Your Communications.
