O2 restores 2G network, 3G still suffering from outages
O2 has restored its 2G network after yesterday's outage but 3G customers are unable to access that service.
Investigations into the cause of the outage, which began around lunchtime yesterday (11 July) and affected customers, including those of giffgaff and Tesco Mobile, across the UK, are ongoing. Not all customers were affected by the service disruption.
The operator has advised customers to switch their phones off and on again to gain access to the 2G network. However, O2 has declined to give a timeframe for when 3G services will be fully restored.
A spokesman said: 'We are sorry again for the inconvenience this has caused and can provide reassurance that we continue to deploy all possible resources and will do so until full service is restored.'
However, the spokesman told Mobile he could not confirm if customers would receive compensation for the service outage.
