Samsung launches Galaxy Beam into UK

Samsung has launched its Galaxy Beam smartphone in the UK today (30 July).

The projector device was announced at Mobile World Congress in February. Consumers can use the handset to project full-screen video clips, maps, information and games onto a wall or ceiling in high definition. The handset runs Android Gingerbread on a 1GHz processor and comes with 8GB of internal memory and a 2000mAh battery.

The Galaxy Beam is available for free on networks including Orange and T-Mobile from £31 per month.

Simon Stanford, VP for Samsung UK & Ireland's telecommunications and networks division, said: 'We were delighted by the hugely positive response we received from both customers and media when we first announced the Galaxy Beam at Mobile World Congress back in February. It’s the kind of device you won’t find anywhere else – a high definition projector within a standard sized smartphone – and is great for people who want to watch movies, show photos to friends or need to give a presentation while they’re out and about.'
