Nokia tries flips again
Nokia is having yet another stab at cracking the clamshell market with its newly announced 6085.
The device is pitched as a massmarket phone, carrying a sim-free price of around £120 and featuring straightforward design and useability.
Features include a 1.3-megapixel camera, expandable memory, Bluetooth and a built-in music player. The handset is a 2.5G quad-band device with EDGE connectivity.
Despite having had no real success with earlier clamshell handsets, Nokia has opted to stay with a tried and trusted design for the 6085. The phone is sleek and accessible but hardly eye-catching, and it remains to be seen if it will prove more popular than its predecessors. In a nod to Motorola’s success with colour variants, Nokia will ship the 6085 in gold and pink as well as the standard silver or black.
The 6085 is expected to launch before Christmas this year. Network availability is yet to be confirmed.
