Mobile distributor Data Select is returning to airtime distribution after signing an airtime contract with Everything Everywhere.
The deal will be launched this month and is part of a drive by the distributor to broaden its portfolio of services beyond its core business. Further airtime deals with other networks are also on the cards, according to sources close to the company.
The deal sees Data Select return to airtime distribution for the first time since its Sim business Data Select Network Solutions was sold by parent group Phones International to Expansys in July 2010.
Data Select has set its sights on diversifying the business this year with the aim of broadening its business services and products beyond mobile hardware distribution. It is currently on a recruitment drive to boost staff numbers by more than half on the back of a number of deals still to be announced. Data Select is planning to recruit 75 new sales and management staff, which will boost staff levels from 125 to 200 by the end of the year.
The company confirmed the airtime distribution deal with Everything Everywhere but declined to comment further as Mobile went to press.
However, a source close to the company said: ‘Data Select will be starting to do airtime deals with Everything Everywhere in the next couple of weeks...The company is planning to offer more airtime deals with other operators going forward.’
