Huawei reveals new Ascend device and user interface at IFA

Huawei is the latest manufacturer to reveal a new handset at the IFA trade show in Berlin, with the Ascend G600 launching in selected markets in September.

The Android Ice Cream Sandwich handset will feature an eight-megapixel camera and double speakers with surround sound. It has a 4.5-inch screen with a 960x540-pixel resolution. Other notable specs include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a battery that provides more than 15 days' standby time and can be fully charged in four hours. The Ascend G600 is also NFC-enabled, which means it can be used for mobile payments.

Shao Yang, chief marketing officer at Huawei Device, said: 'We are very excited to introduce the new Huawei Ascend G600, which gives more functionality and power for people who expect more from their technology. Building on the success of the Ascend range of smartphones, the Huawei Ascend G600 is the latest in our range of flagship products that make exceptional product experiences accessible for more people globally.'

The manufacturer also unveiled a new user interface at IFA. Huawei said the new Emotion UI will improve usability and 'provides a much simpler navigational experience for users'. The English version of Emotion will be available for download during the fourth quarter of this year.
