Samsung Galaxy S III smashes through 20 million sales mark

Samsung has sold more than 20 million Galaxy S III handsets in 100 days, with almost a third of sales coming from Europe.

The manufacturer announced the milestone this morning (6 September) and revealed that it broke the record of the Samsung Galaxy S II, which took 10 months to reach the same number of sales. Samsung said it sold six million devices in Europe, 4.5 million in Asia, four million in the US and 2.5 million in Korea.

JK Shin, president and head of IT & mobile communications division at Samsung Electronics, said: 'The Galaxy S III has enjoyed tremendous attention and popularity since its launch in May, and we are thrilled with its success. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to customers who have chosen the Galaxy S III. We will never stop providing the latest smart mobile technologies to help users live a life extraordinary.'
