Orange pulls Care insurance scheme

Orange pulls Care insurance scheme

Orange is withdrawing its Orange Care insurance scheme for business customers next month ahead of the launch of a new product.

The move will affect the operator’s small and medium-sized business customers. Distributors have been informing dealers of the changes this week. In a statement to dealers, Carphone Warehouse Business said: ‘Please note that from Monday 1 October Orange Care will no longer be available for connection within the indirect b2b channel. The withdrawal of the Orange Care product is in advance of the launch of a new Orange product which we hope to learn more about soon.’

Carphone warned dealers to conclude and register any deals that include Orange Care by 30 September.

The Orange Care insurance scheme covers approved Orange phones and devices which are lost, stolen, damaged or develop any fault. Costs start from £6 per phone per month and go up to £15 for high-value devices. The scheme is underwritten by Allianz Insurance and administered by Lifestyle Insurance Group.

An Orange spokeswoman confirmed Orange Care is to be withdrawn but declined to give further details.
