Azzurri Communications has clinched a major deal with Comet to manage the electrical retailer’s telecoms estate.
The deal, which sees Azzurri replace incumbent Vodafone as the managed service provider, involves the modernisation and rationalisation of Comet’s mobility estate to deliver greater savings, improved customer service and greater efficiency.
Azzurri will also supply a host of different devices ranging from iPads and smartphones through to standard voice devices, all integrated with Comet’s fixed infrastructure.
The managed service, which covers 1,500 devices, includes connectivity from 02 and billing and reporting through Azzurri’s telecoms expense management tool Intelligent Telecoms Expense Management (ITEM).
Comet CIO Neil Verma said: ‘Our objective is to ensure our staff have the right technology to do their jobs to the best of their ability. We also understand some staff may want to use their own device for corporate as well as personal use.
‘We’ve aspirations of taking advantage of what mobile technologies can bring to our industry, using Azzurri’s expertise to help us select what’s right for Comet. In the meantime there are a number of steps we can take to improve our telecoms estate. That’s why we’re taking a mixed approach to mobility, which we believe will enhance our ability to offer market-leading customer service.'
Verma added: ‘As well as seeking to enhance our customer service through technology, we also see the contract with Azzurri as helping us to improve our operational efficiency. A key area for us is telecoms expense management. We have a lot of devices, so being able to set centralised policies, manage them through an easy-to-use dashboard, and then report against them is vital.’
The contract also provides Comet with Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) via Azzurri’s Mobile Extensions service, allowing customer calls to be directed to the right staff member whether at their desk or out in the field.
