Motorola Mobility launching RAZR i in the UK next month

Motorola Mobility's first handset featuring an Intel processor will launch in the UK next month.

The RAZR i was launched this morning (18 September) in London and will be sold through Orange, T-Mobile, Virgin Media, Phones 4u and Tesco with pricing to be confirmed. The device has a 4.3-inch edge-to-edge screen with virtually no border. It runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich on a 2GHz Intel Atom processor, although the device will be upgradeable to Jelly Bean in the future. The eight-megapixel camera can be launched in less than a second from a separate button on the handset.

Motorola Mobility said the device has a 40% longer battery life than the iPhone 4S. Its Smart Actions feature can trigger specific actions like putting the device into silent mode when a user is in a meeting.

Jim Wicks, senior VP for consumer experience design at Motorola Mobility, said: 'Together with Intel, we’re redefining what people can expect from a mobile device. A camera that launches in an instant, webpages that load blazingly fast and a device that’s the perfect balance of screen size and fit in hand. RAZR i delivers just that when you put an Intel-fast processor in a beautifully designed phone and add in extra long battery life.'
