LG has announced a new flagship smartphone, the Optimus G, which will be launched into 'key global markets' from next month and the UK in the first quarter of next year.
The handset touts a crosstasking function called QSlide, which allows two different screens to be shown simultaneously on the phone and a user to complete two tasks, such as sending a text while watching a video. Consumers can also zoom into a video by up to five times while it is being watched.
The handset runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich on a quad-core 1.5GHz processor.Among the features of its 13MP camera is a smart shutter, which senses camera vibration or movement of the subject and adjusts shutter speed accordingly. The camera is also voice activated and automatically reduces the noise of taking pictures in low light.
The handset will go on sale in Korea next week, with other global markets to follow next month. It will be launched into the UK in early 2013.
Jong-seok Park, president of LG's mobile communications company, said: 'The Optimus G is a groundbreaking premium device not only in the history of LG but also in the smartphone industry. With the Optimus G, users will be able to experience unsurpassed UX features that will allow them to perform tasks that really enhance their daily lives.'
