Samsung launching a Galaxy S III 'mini' in Germany

Samsung is launching a four-inch version of its bestselling Galaxy S III to market in Germany, its head of mobile has said.

No English release date has been confirmed but in a press conference with Korean reporters, JK Shin said the move followed rising demand for four-inch devices. The existing Samsung Galaxy S III has a 4.8-inch screen. It is unlikely to be a budget device, with Shin revealing the handset will have 'full form factor'. He said: 'We'll be launching a 4-inch Galaxy S III on the 11th [October] in Germany. There's a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it "mini."'

The Galaxy S III has been a great success for Samsung, with the handset shifting more than 20 million units in 100 days, with almost a third of those sales coming from Europe. A four-inch version of the S III would buck the trend for Android devices, which have generally opted for larger screens.
