UK consumers will be able to order Microsoft's forthcoming Surface tablet online, when it goes on sale from 26 October.
The manufacturer revealed pricing for the American market for its first foray into tablets this afternoon (16 October). The entry level 32GB device costs £399, the same price as Apple's 16GB new iPad. Consumers can also buy the tablet with a Touch Cover included, which doubles up as a keyboard. The 32GB and 64GB tablets plus covers cost £479 and £559 respectively. The tablets will come with 2GB of RAM, are Wi-Fi enabled and have a 10.6-inch screen.
As well as going on sale in Microsoft stores across the United States and Canada, the tablets will be available in six global markets – Australia, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom.
Microsoft is reportedly gearing up a production run of 5 million tablets for the fourth quarter of 2012, as it looks to compete against rivals Apple, Amazon, Google and Samsung.
