Carphone Warehouse's Sobia Ali has become the final store manager to be voted through to the grand final of Store Manager of the Year.
Ali, who runs the Glasgow, Buchanan Street branch, impressed the judging panel and the public vote as a conscientious, inspirational and supportive manager. 'Elaynebryan' was just one of the many people who praised her wide range of skills. She said: 'I have worked with Sobia and also been a customer of hers, she is very much a people person and strives for success. She has a great sense of humour (which we need in retail) and a very approachable young lady, she has worked hard in the industry and deserves the recognition.'
A guest commenter added: 'Sobia not only gives the best to her team she gives the best to her store and customers too! Great manager and always part of the team.'
Ali beat Phones 4u's Louise Carpenter from Cwmbrian, who also proved popular among our readers. One guest said: 'Learnt so much from Louise. Passionate, determined and results show her hard work pays off. She has built a great store and team. The customer always gets a fantastic experience!'
Ali now goes through to the Store Manager of the Year final, which will take place in London on 21 November. She joins T-Mobile's Emma Cox, Vodafone's Mark Anderson, Tesco Mobile's Alex Cheetham and Three's Jo Carrington.
However, Carpenter still has a chance to make the final. She joins the other losing finalists - O2's Athif Khokar, Phones 4u's Gareth Cayford, Carphone Warehouse's David Grant and Orange's Kellie Murphy - in the wildcard vote. Voting has opened for the person you want to see make the final here.
