RIM implements carrier billing with more than 50 operators

More than 50 operators have implemented integrated carrier billing for BlackBerry's App World, allowing consumers to pay for apps in their monthly phone bill.

Research in Motion said the billing will allow BlackBerry users to also make in-app and subscription-based purchases in the same way. RIM said users are more likely to buy apps through BlackBerry App World because of carrier billing and said carrier revenues from apps increased by 100-300% after launch.

Ronjon Nag, VP for BlackBerry App World storefront, said: 'We’re delighted to announce that over 50 of our carrier partners are now offering integrated carrier billing to customers on BlackBerry App World. We remain committed to developing innovative ways to support our carrier partners, while providing a platform that benefits the whole mobile ecosystem.'
