Orange unveils push email
Orange has unveiled a push email service designed for business users, but UK customers will have to wait until next year before they can use it.
Orange Mail, currently being tested on the Romanian market, is due to launch here in early 2007. The company hopes to 'democratise' mobile email and make it as popular as SMS, claiming that Orange Mail will cost users around 40% less than other mobile email solutions on the market.
Philippe Bernard, European vice president of Orange Business Solutions said: 'Only around 10% of SMEs use mobile email and it's often seen as an expensive business tool reserved for senior executives in the company. Our aim is to open up mobile email to a much wider base of business users across all size of company.'
The service will be available on the Nokia E61 and E50, Sony Ericsson M600i and P990i and Orange SPV C600, M3000, M3100 and C700 devices. This list may grow before the UK launch date, as Orange plan to expand the service to lower cost handsets as rollout accelerates.
