RIM likely to bring BlackBerry Ready to the UK

Research in Motion could offer a free BlackBerry 10 smartphone to UK businesses, as it ramps up anticipation for its new BB10 OS with a new US campaign.

BB10 is due to be finally unveiled on 30 January, after it was delayed from this year's planned launch. RIM launched a BlackBerry Ready programme this week for US business customers. It will offer one free BB10 smartphone to key BlackBerry customers who use its Mobile Fusion service, which allows companies to manage its device across numerous operating systems. Businesses also need to complete an exclusive online learning course to qualify.

Bryan Lee, senior director for enterprise at RIM, said: 'We remain committed to our enterprise customers and want to provide them with a head start on understanding the power of BlackBerry 10 and preparing their existing environments for the new mobile computing platform. The BlackBerry 10 Ready Program gives customers access to a variety of services, information, tools, and special offers to help ease their transition to BlackBerry 10 and BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10.'

A UK spokesperson said additional countries were set to follow BlackBerry Ready's launch with similar offers.
