BlackBerry adds two telecoms veterans to board of directors
BlackBerry has appointed former Sony Ericsson CEO Bert Nordberg and ex vice-president of Verizon Dick Lynch to its board of directors.
Nordberg spent three years at the helm of the phone manufacturer before Sony bought out Ericsson's share of the joint venture. Lynch formerly worked as chief technology officer for Verizon, having joined its predecessor Bell Atlantic in 1990.
BlackBerry's board now comprises 12 members, 10 of whom are independent. The board's chair, Barbara Stymiest, said: 'We are very pleased to add the talent and industry knowledge of these two respected executives to our Board. We are looking forward to their contributions as we continue to drive for long-term shareholder value and seek opportunities to leverage the extraordinary BlackBerry 10 platform launched last week.'
