Sony Ericsson will acquire UIQ Technology AB, the Symbian-based software company behind its pen-based interface for the P900 series.
The manufacturer is already a licensee of UIQ Technology. It worked with the company on UIQ version 3.0, which is included in the P990 smartphone, M600 and W950 Walkman phone.
Sony Ericsson is UIQ Technology's main customer. A handful of other manufacturer's has used teh technology including Motorola, however, other than Sony Ericsson made devices, very few UIQ handsets have been sold in UK.
The transaction is expected to be completed within the next few months. UIQ Technology is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Symbian.
