O2 puts Tracks on the playlist
O2 has launched a new app giving customers access to songs from the Official UK Top 40 Singles Chart and curated playlists.
O2 Tracks costs £1 per week, following a two month free trial for the operator's customers and two week trial for customers from other networks, and is available for Apple and Android smartphones. BlackBerry and Windows Phone versions of the app will be coming soon, said O2.
The app automatically updates with the bestselling songs overnight each week through wi-fi and stores them on a mobile, so a consumer does not need wi-fi access to listen to music. Customers can buy songs direct from the app. Other features include playlists to coincide with hits from festivals or breakthrough artists.
Sally Cowdry [pictured], O2's outgoing consumer and marketing director, said: 'O2 Tracks allows you to access the most popular music directly on your mobile and for better value than ever before. O2 has built a heritage with music and offering exclusive experiences. That’s why our customers can enjoy two months free. Even after this promotion, our new app means you get the entire chart for little more than the price of downloading one track.'
