HTC One voted best new device at Mobile World Congress

The HTC One has clinched the award for the best new handset, device or tablet at this year's Mobile World Congress.

As the annual trade fair closes for another year, trade body the GSMA revealed the Taiwanese smartphone maker's new flagship was the best new device of 2013. The handset goes on sale in the UK on 15 March.

Benjamin Ho, chief marketing officer for HTC, said: 'We are delighted by the reactions from both consumers and the industry to the new HTC One. It is a device that has been years in the making and is one of which we are incredibly proud.'

HTC beat competition from the likes of the Sony Xperia Z, LG Optimus G Pro, the Nokia 105 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0.
