Virgin Media Business adds second Wi-Fi network to Bradford
Virgin Media Business has extended its free Wi-Fi service to Bradford City Park.
This is the second area in the city to have Wi-Fi, after it was rolled out to Bridge Street late last year and follows the service Virgin Media provides on the London Underground.
Virgin Media put in place a small-cell infrastructure to run the service. The company said in addition to free Wi-Fi, rival network operators will be able to use it for more capacity for their own 3G and 4G networks.
Kevin Baughan, director of wireless at Virgin Media Business, said: 'The use of mobile devices like smartphones has rocketed in the last few years, meaning that everyone wants access to faster internet services on the move. Using our superfast fibre network we’ve been able to provide the cities of Leeds and Bradford with superfast wi-fi services. We've also laid the foundations to support mobile operators in the future rollout of high capacity overlays for 3G and 4G mobile services using the next generation of small cell technology.'
