HTC UK head of sales Mike Coombes and head of marketing James Atkins have left HTC in the wake of the manufacturer’s UK chief Phil Roberson’s departure.
Both Coombes and Atkins are understood to be launching a start-up company. An HTC spokeswoman declined to say if their leaving was linked to Roberson’s departure.
The exit of the Taiwanese phone maker’s UK chief followed weeks of speculation that he was set to quit. He will be replaced by EMEA VP of products and operations, Philip Blair.
The HTC spokeswoman said: ‘It is a great opportunity for Phil Blair to build a strong sales and marketing team to support his vision in the UK and drive the success of the newly announced HTC One in this important region.’
Roberson told Mobile he had decided to leave to spend more time with his family and to take a break. He added that he was keen to resume a career in telecoms on his return.
Roberson joined HTC on October 2011 from Everything Everywhere, where he was devices marketing director. Coombes joined HTC in November 2011 from Nokia where he was the Everything Everywhere account director. Atkins was formerly at Freesat, a BBC/ITV joint venture, before joining HTC in July 2011.
