O2 signs up Sandé for Tracks app campaign

O2 has signed up Brit Award winning artist Emeli Sandé as the face of its £7.3m advertising campaign for its new O2 Tracks music app.

The television advert was first broadcast last night on ITV and shows Sandé coming face to face with a fan listening to her song on the app. The Apple and Android app downloads the top 40 automatically over wi-fi and stores the songs on a mobile device. As well as the television ad, O2 will run a digital and mobile campaign and interactive outdoor ads that allow people to listen to 30 second snippets of the top 40.

Sally Cowdry, O2's outgoing consumer and marketing director, said: 'O2 has a proud heritage in offering our customers brilliant music experiences and O2 Tracks forms a key part of this. We’re thrilled to be working with Emeli to promote the app and continue our tradition of working with some of the world’s best artists.'

The operator added it is preparing a Windows Phone and BlackBerry version of the app. O2 customers get it on an eight week free trial, then pay £1 per week directly onto their bill. Consumers on other networks get it for free for two weeks, then pay £4.99 thereafter.
