Galaxy S4 smashes records at Carphone
Carphone Warehouse has smashed its pre-registration records for the Samsung Galaxy S 4, with the handset receiving more than four times as many enquiries as its predecessor.
The retailer said in the three days following its announcement last Thursday, it took 446% more pre-registrations that the Galaxy SIII.
Carphone Warehouse chief operating officer Graham Stapleton said: 'The vast number of pre-registrations we’ve had for the device is evidence how hot the Galaxy S4 is going to be. The launch event in New York clearly captured the imagination of many of our customers – acting as the driving force for the busiest pre-registration period we’ve ever seen.
'The Galaxy S III broke all records last year and was always going to be a tough one to beat, but the S 4 is already proving to be more than a capable step up in the series that will inspire many people to make the switch to Android from other operating systems. The device is one to watch for 2013.'
Carphone's stats follow those of Phones 4u who said the S 4 had the most pre-registrations of any device released in 2013 and were up 40% on those for the Galaxy SIII in the first 48 hours since the new handset was announced.
