Srini Gopalan to leave Vodafone

Srini Gopalan to leave Vodafone

Vodafone's consumer director Srini Gopalan is leaving the operator to take a job with a global telco, Mobile understands.

Gopalan's last day at the operator is today (15 April) and it is currently unclear which company he will join. In the short term, it is understood Gopalan's duties will be split between other members of the Vodafone UK board. The operator will launch a search for a permanent replacement.

Gopalan joined Vodafone in 2010 from T-Mobile, where he was chief marketing officer. At Vodafone, his key duties included the refurbishment of its retail portfolio, towards a more modular style that focuses on operating systems. The £50m refit is expected to be completed at the end of this year. Gopalan is also credited with turning around the operator's performance in the challenging prepay market.
