Samsung Galaxy S4 to smash through 10 million sales next week

Samsung's Galaxy S4 looks set to break through the 10 million sales mark next week, with the handset smashing previous records.

The Korean manufacturer's latest flagship appears to have put it initial supply problems behind it, with a marketing blitz being hailed as the reason behind the strong sales. When it hits the 10 million sales mark, it will be much faster than the Galaxy S3, which took 50 days to reach 10 million sales. The S4 went on sale on 26 April.

The Korean Times reported Samsung Electronics co-CEO Shin Jong-kyun, who said: 'We are confident that we will pass more than 10 million sales of the S4 next week. It is selling much faster than the previous model S3.'

Shin was more cautious about rumours of a flexible display on its forthcoming Galaxy Note 3, which is set to be revealed at the IFA trade fair. He said: 'More time will be needed.'
