Nokia promotes Johnson to head up UK marketing team
Nokia has promoted Adam Johnson to the role of marketing director for UK and Ireland.
He replaces the manufacturer's former marketing head John Nichols, who left earlier in the year to take up the role of Nokia's global head of brand strategy. Johnson was formerly head of consumer marketing and was responsible for campaigns such as the Lumia Live events that featured the dance act Deadmau5. In his new job, he will be in charge of all strategic planning, retail, above and below the line activity, focusing on its Lumia range of smartphones. He will report to Conor Pierce, vice-president and general manager of Nokia UK and Ireland.
Johnson said: 'I am incredibly passionate about this wonderful brand and am privileged to be able to continue to help drive Nokia's turnaround in one of its most important markets. With the team I have working with me together with the products we are bringing to market, it couldn’t be a more exciting time to be taking the marketing reins for Nokia in the UK & Ireland.'
Johnson began his Nokia career working on the Nseries as brand manager before joining Nokia Australia in 2006 as senior marketing manager. He returned to the UK in January 2011.
