Samsung is set to unveil its new S4 mini handset at next month's showpiece London event.
The manufacturer revealed details of the handset this morning, hot on the heels of the release of its fastest selling smartphone ever in April. The device has a 4.3-inch screen, smaller than the S4's five- inch display, and runs on a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, compared to its larger counterpart's 1.9GHz quad-core chip. It will be available in black and white and supports 4G in selected markets. The handset shares a lot of the features of the S4, such as Sound&Shot, which captures music and voice when photos are taken.
Simon Stanford, vice-president of IT and mobile division at Samsung UK and Ireland said: 'Demand for the Galaxy S4 has been phenomenal since it launched in April and we hope to build on this success with the Galaxy S4 Mini. This new handset is the ideal smartphone companion for anyone who wants a compact device packed with innovation.'
The manufacturer said further details will be provided at its Samsung Premiere 2013 event, which will take place in London on 20 June.
Phones 4u said the device will go on sale in July. Chief commercial officer Scott Hooton said: 'We know that there’s a huge appetite for Samsung Galaxy devices, with the Samsung Galaxy S4 being the biggest selling new smartphone of 2013 at Phones 4u. With the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, Samsung has packed the incredible new features into a smaller design which will appeal to a different audience, and we anticipate it will be well received by our customers.'
