Samsung to launch rugged Galaxy S4

Samsung is to launch a rugged version of the Galaxy S4 this summer. The device is aimed at consumers with active lifestyles.

The fully sealed design keeps dust particles out and protects against water damage for up to 30 minutes of submergence at a depth of one meter.

It is also equipped with a water-resistant earphone jack allowing consumers to use earphones in difficult conditions.

The Galaxy Active S4 comes with a 1.9 GHZ Quad-Core processor, a 2600mAh battery and a 5.0’’ full HDTFT LCD screen. It also has ‘Glove Touch’, allowing the touchscreen to be fully operated while wearing gloves.

The device sports an 8-megapixel rear camera, which has ‘Aqua Mode’ which can be used to increase visual quality and clarity for enhanced underwater images and video.

The volume key located on the side of the device can be used as a camera key, allowing users to easily and quickly open the camera application to capture photo and video the moment it happens.

In addition, the camera transforms into a powerful LED flash light to assist in low-light and night time activities with a simple long press of the volume key.

The device will be available in grey, blue and orange.

Samsung vice president of IT and mobile Simon Stanford said: ‘The Galaxy S4 Active offers all the great features of the original Galaxy S4, but with added innovative protective design elements to suit our most active customers. Built for an outdoors lifestyle, the Galaxy S4 Active is a life companion for all environments.’

Phones 4U has announced it will stock the device on release.
