Vodafone releases 4G ready mi-fi device

Vodafone has launched its first 4G ready mobile Wi-Fi device, with the operator set to launch a next generation service in the next months.

The R212 is available on a 30 day contract for a £99 upfront payment, with 1GB of data costing £10 and 2GB costing £15. Alternatively consumers can buy it on a 12 month contract for the same monthly payments, but with a £39 upfront payment. Up to 10 devices can be conncted to the device at the same time.

However, when Vodafone launches 4G consumers will not automatically switch to faster speeds. It appears likely consumers will be given the option to upgrade onto a next generation tariff.

Vodafone has been selling a range of smartphones under its '4G Ready' campaign, including the Samsung Galaxy S4, Nokia Lumia 925 and BlackBerry Z10.
