Entrepreneur Julian Shovlin is to launch the first of up to 20 upmarket iSmash smartphone repair stores next month.
The first iSmash store will be located on the King’s Road in Chelsea, with a second due to open in Canary Wharf. The company is also targeting further London sites at the White City and Stratford Westfield shopping centres, Oxford and Regent Streets and the City. iSmash also plans to launch a website next month. Founder and director Shovlin said: ‘We have private equity investment which will allow us to open 18 to 20 stores within 18 months to two years.’
He added: ‘We want to become a trusted high street brand - once the formula is right it is very repeatable. We see iSmash as a franchise opportunity once it has become established in the London market.’
The iSmash shops will have a modern, airy, sleek design, inspired by Apple’s iPhone stores. They will also carry large display screens on which technical advice will be displayed. The stores will deliver on-site repairs to high-end touchscreen devices from Apple, Samsung, HTC and BlackBerry. Repair times for customers who book in advance will be no more than 30 minutes.
It will also offer a premium smartphone customisation service as well as insurance, a range of refurbished devices, and accessories via distributors Kondor and Westcoast.
iSmash is also targeting b2b repairs, aiming for business customers ranging from SMEs to corporates, with offers of cut-price business deals.
